“🧠 Let’s Talk About Mental Health & Misconceptions 🧠
Many of us remember cartoons or old media where a white box truck would pull up, and two men in white coats would jump out, place someone in a straightjacket, and haul them away. Some may even recall the old song, “They’re coming to take me away, ha ha!”
These images and messages have created a long-standing myth — and it’s time to clear it up.
Mental health professionals do not have the authority to just show up and “take someone away.”
We cannot force services on someone who does not want help. This is a common fear for many people, especially those who worry they’ll be placed on a “hold” or referred to with terms like “5150” (which, for clarification, is a California-specific law).
There are specific and rare circumstances where a person may be held for their safety or required to engage in services — and we’ll be covering those in future posts about Civil Commitment and the Law.
We understand this can be frustrating or scary, especially for loved ones who are watching someone struggle with homelessness or untreated mental illness. While we cannot remove someone from the streets or force them into care, we are always here to offer support, resources, and compassionate outreach.
If you’re concerned about a family member or community member, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, we can explore the best options for help and healing.

“Many of us working in Behavioral Health have walked our own path through mental health or substance use challenges. We’ve been there — and we truly understand the struggles our clients face, because we’ve faced them too.
We believe in the power of change and the strength of the human spirit. When you see someone on our team who has a past, know that they are walking proof that healing is possible, and recovery is real. Their role here is not just a job — it’s a step in their journey toward a better life.
We’ve had people tell us, “It gives me hope to see someone like me working here.” 💙
That’s what we’re all about — hope, healing, and second chances.

“🧢 Outback Strong is More Than a Logo — It’s a Statement 💪
At Outback Strong, we love showing up at events and in our offices with freebies and swag — and we do our best to make sure these items are actually useful! You’ll often see us giving out things like:
👕 T-shirts
🖊️ Pens
💄 Chapstick
🧥 Warm gear like hoodies and beanies
But here’s the thing — when you wear something with our logo, it’s not just an ad for Behavioral Health.
It’s a statement.
A statement about resilience, community, and strength.
It’s a way to say: I believe in healing. I believe in second chances. I believe in us.
So go ahead — rock that hoodie or beanie with pride.
Outback Strong isn’t just a name. It’s who we are.
